The short version
- Be honest. People make real decisions from what they read here.
- Be kind. Everyone here was new somewhere once.
- Protect people. Never expose someone or put them at risk.
These guidelines cover posts, questions, answers, comments, stories, resources, spaces, messages, photos, videos, profiles and usernames.
No scams or fraud
People who are moving are a common target for scams. We treat this as one of the most serious things you can do on Kugb.
- No fake job, visa, housing or study offers.
- No asking for deposits, fees or personal documents under false pretences.
- No selling or helping people get forged documents, or helping them cheat immigration or government systems.
- No pyramid schemes or promises of guaranteed approvals or income.
Share accurate information
Wrong immigration, legal or health advice can cost someone a great deal.
- Share what you know, and say where it comes from when you can.
- Be clear about whether something is your own experience or official guidance.
- Rules vary by place and change over time, so say where and when your advice applies.
- Update or remove resources that have gone out of date.
- Don’t copy someone else’s resource and post it as your own. Credit your sources.
No harassment or hate
- No bullying, threats, or repeated contact with someone who has asked you to stop.
- No attacks on people because of their nationality, immigration status, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- No telling people to go back where they came from, and no mocking accents, names or language skills.
- Disagree with ideas, not with the people who hold them.
Respect people’s privacy
- Never share or threaten to share someone’s immigration status, home address, ID documents or other private details.
- Never threaten to report someone to the authorities in order to pressure them.
- Don’t post private messages or photos of other people without their permission.
- Don’t use Discover or location sharing to track, follow or turn up on someone uninvited.
Keep people safe
- Nothing that sexualises or endangers children. We remove it and may report it to the authorities.
- No nudity or sexual content.
- No graphic violence, or content that encourages violence, self-harm or dangerous activity.
- No selling illegal goods or services.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Kugb can’t send help.
Be real
- Don’t pretend to be another person, a business, an organisation or an official body.
- Don’t claim qualifications you don’t have, such as being a lawyer or licensed adviser.
- No spam, fake engagement, or repetitive or misleading promotion.
- Don’t use several accounts to get around a limit or a ban.
Label your content
Use the labels in the photo and video editors when they apply:
- Sensitive: content some people may not want to see without warning.
- AI-made: photos or videos created or significantly changed with AI, especially if they could be mistaken for real.
- Partner content: anything paid for, or made with, a business or partner.
Spaces and groups
Spaces can add their own rules, but they can’t allow anything these guidelines prohibit. People who run a space are expected to act on problems in it, and they can’t use it to pressure or exploit members.
Report a problem
Tap ⋯ on a post, comment, message or profile and choose Report. The person isn’t told who reported them. You can also block anyone at any time, and they won’t be able to see your profile or message you.
To flag a resource as outdated, wrong or spam, use the flag option on the resource. You can reach us at support@kugb.social as well.
What happens next
Our team reviews reports and looks at the context. Depending on what happened and how serious it is, we may:
- remove the content or hide it while we check it
- send you a warning
- limit what your account can do, for a time or permanently
- suspend or close your account
- contact the authorities when someone’s safety is at risk or the law requires it
A resource that gets several flags is hidden while we check it. You can see why in Settings → Contributor profile, update it or reply to our team. You never see who flagged it.
If you think we got something wrong, email support@kugb.social and we’ll take another look.
Changes to these guidelines
We’ll update these guidelines as Kugb and its community grow. They form part of our Terms of service.
